You've got to hand it to him, we didn't see this one coming. Not since 'Faith' has pop's premier stubble-wearer come up with something quite so upbeat and vital. George Michael really has outdone him...
Oh, sorry, Our mistake.
The ever present troubadour-de-jour is back, then, with the same track that launched him into the slightly-underground-but-kind-of- mainstream. When it comes to 'Second, Minute or Hour' we can just about forgive the dreaded re-release though; probably the most immediately brilliant spazz-dance of a track Penate has teased us with so far, it's worthy of a bigger audience.
Packed with guitars so stabby there's probably some Police publicity drive in the offing and charmingly affected vocals, it's obvious there's a formula at work but by golly it's infectious. Planet pop awaits Jack. Or can we call you George?
